Duo Sonata for Two Violins (G. Schirmer) Albert Markov was born and educated in Russia. After winning three gold medals in world class violin competitions, including the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, Markov concertized in the U.S.S.R., Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Portugal, France and Eastern Europe. Markov appeared in a joint concert with Rostropovich in Holland, where his composition instructor, Aram Khatchuturian, was the conductor.
Markov emigrated to the United States in 1976. He is an active composer of violin sonatas, rhapsodies, vocal and piano compositions. His many years of pedagogical and concert experience went into the creation of the book of Violin Technique and System of Violin Playing. Markov teaches at the Manhattan School of Music and Long Island Conservatory.
